OLYMPIA, Wash.— The Freedom Foundation’s iLearn Project is partnering with the national initiative Digital Learning Now! to introduce Washington state policymakers to the basics of online learning, Washington’s current policies, and the next steps toward unlocking the full potential for online learning in Washington.
The two organizations will host a joint symposium on Jan. 11th.
“Digital learning is the future of education,” said Diana Moore, senior education analyst for the Freedom Foundation and director of the iLearn Project. “We want to give policymakers the vision and tools to leverage digital learning for increased quality, access, and achievement for every student in Washington.”
Speakers include Tom Vander Ark, author and founder of Getting Smart; Karl Nelson, director of the Digital Learning Department at the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction; and the keynote address will be given by former West Virginia Gov. Bob Wise, who currently serves as president of the Alliance for Excellent Education and co-chairman of Digital Learning Now!
Sponsoring the Symposium are Voyager Learning, Admiral Thomas Hayward, Florida Virtual School, Getting Smart, the Washington Families for Online Learning Coalition, and the Washington Coalition for Online Learning.
